Squeezing Data for Insights

Ein Gasteintrag von Iris Laband:

I am an “Americanized” German.

A beer-loving, inline-skating, mathematically rigorous thrill-seeker who likes to use a lot of emphatic body language (which I'm told definitely makes me Americanized). After 20 years in the states, I love being American. The American way encompasses optimism, embracing challenges and doing things we’re told can’t be done. We have a strong drive to do things differently and challenge the status quo.

I am attracted to WE for many of the same reasons I like the American way:

  • Creativity and “can-do” attitude: Not spending $2 million on a Super Bowl ad but still being the talk of the town? It can't be done? WE did it for Volvo with its 2015 award-winning viral campaign that encouraged people to nominate a friend to win a Volvo during the few minutes that a competitor’s car ad was on TV.
  • Taking things to the next level: WE launched an industry-first platform for collecting and analyzing terabytes of social and digital data: the "WE Infinity" platform. And, as an agency, WE remains committed to being a “best-in-class” company when it comes to communications analytics. Creating a new senior leadership position for Insights and Analytics will help move the team into next-gen analytics and data.
  • Ability to act swiftly and make big changes quickly: As an independent company, WE doesn't have to answer to shareholders’ urge for short-term profits. It can remain nimble to make big strategic moves and investments. Germans love efficiencies like that!

Even though I am very much a numbers person (I am German after all!), I love and respect the power of words. The words that people use say so much about their feelings, beliefs and motivations. I’m excited to blend my passion for numbers with the art of storytelling that WE does so well. Data that informs a narrative is a powerful proposition — and we’ll use it to help brands transform their business.

As communications continues to evolve, data and insights become increasingly critical elements of the bigger package. My passion is to find creative approaches to analytics to squeeze out more insights from data and drive smarter decisions. That is my mission at WE as the new leader of the Analytics and Insights team. I can’t wait to get started!
